Babylon
Mesopotamia,
the fertile plain between the rivers Euphrates and Tigris,
is the land of the oldest advanced high culture of our world.
It is the origin of writing, science, literature and state
organisation. In the 2nd millennium B.C. Babylon rose to be
the policical and economical centre of the region. The town
reached its peak under Nebuchadnezzar (604-562 B.C.), who
converted Babylon into the biggest and most splendid city
of the world at that time.
