Watch The East side Gallery For the East Side Gallery a very special kind of "canvas" has been used: the Berlin Wall! All paintings are done on one of the last remaining stretches of the famous or rather infamous wall that used to devide the German Nation and all of Europe. Situated along the river Spree the East Side Gallery is probably the longest of its kind in the world. When the Wall came down in 1989 more than a hundred artist from all over the globe gathered and tried to express the hope and the euphoria of a new era. They chose the eastern face of the Berlin Wall for their paintings, a surface never to be touched or even approached in communist times, and turned it into the East Side Gallery. With their paintings at this historical place the artists have set a sign against inhumanity but also a symbol for its overcoming. In 1996 the "Künstlerinitiative e. V." was founded an association of artists and art lovers that aims at conserving and restoring the endangered gallery. Today the East Side Gallery is protected as a historical monument and with the purchase of a watch everyone can help to maintain this unique monument. Mit dem Mauerfall 1989 fanden sich über 100 Künstler aus aller Welt zusammen, der während des Kommunismus unantastbaren Ostseite der Berliner Mauer in einer neuen Zeit ein neues Gesicht zu geben: Die East Side Galerie. Mit Ihren Bildern an diesem historischen Ort haben die Künstler der Welt nicht nur ein Zeichen gegen Unmenschlichkeit gesetzt, sondern auch ein Symbol ihrer Überwindung. Die 1996 gegründete Künstlerinitiative e.V. bemüht sich um die Erhaltung der durch Witterung gefährdeten unter Denkmalschutz stehende Mauergalerie. Die Uhr entstand in Zusammenarbeit mit dem gemeinnützigen Verein Künstlerinitative East Side Gallery. Mit einem Teil des Kaufpreises unterstützen Sie den Erhalt der Kunstwerke.
