The cross-shaped pendant is ca. 1,000 years old and is part of a larger hoard which was washed up to one of the beaches of Hiddensee in a storm tide in 1872. The main motives are a bird's head and a braided onament. This piece of jewellery is considered as a particularly fine example of Viking Age goldsmithery.
