To the ancient Egyptians the dung beetle was the symbol of resurrection. Like the sun rising on the horizon every morning the beetle - „the one who comes into being" - is born from its dung ball. The sun-beetle thus dispensing light and warmth became a favoured amulet and was given as a burial object to the deceased being a symbol of the new life in the beyond. From the tomb treasure of Tutankhamun.
